Why does the moon change its shape?
ทำไม เราถึงเห็นดวงจันทร์เปลี่ยนรูปทรงไปตลอด
ทำไมวันนี้ดวงจันทร์เปลี่ยนไป ไม่เหมือนเดิมอีกแล้ว

รูปทรงของดวงจันทร์ที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไป หรือที่เราเรียกว่าข้างขึ้นข้างแรมนั้น ในภาษาอังกฤษ เราจะใช้คำว่า Phases of the Moon หรือ The Moon's Phases ซึ่งมันเกิดจากการที่ดวงอาทิตย์ฉายแสงมายังส่วนต่างๆ ของดวงจันทร์แตกต่างกันออกไป ในขณะที่ดวงจันทร์นั้นหมุนโครจรรอบโลก 

แล้วจะอธิบายลูกเป็นภาษาอังกฤษยังไง สาลี่มีเวอร์ชั่นง่ายๆ มาให้ทุกคนค่ะ 

Sweetie. Do you know why we can see the moon in different shapes?
Why can we see the crescent moon one day but the full moon on the other day?

You know that we live on Earth, right? 
There is a planet moving around the Earth.
Do you know what it is? 

That's right. It's the moon. 
While the moon is moving around the earth, the light from the sun sheds on different parts of the moon.
That's why we can see different shapes of it (the moon).

We call this shape of the moon "waxing crescent". 
This phase starts after the new moon. You can see the slim smile of the moon at the right side. 

We call the phase of the Moon "full moon".
It is bright and round. 

Opposite to the waxing moon, you can see the slim smile of the moon at the left side.

We call this "waning moon".

It's totally opposite to the full moon. New moon means no moon!
We can see the moon in the sky because we can only see the side of the moon that is not illuminated by the sun. Then, the moon blend into the darkness of the sky. 

New moon means no moon because of that reason.
